Apprentices Awarded Trade Scholarships

| By: Britten, Casey

Fifteen construction and industrial trades apprentices at Fox Valley Technical College each received $1,000 Tools of the Trade scholarships from Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation.

The scholarships are designed to address projected job growth of 21% for careers in construction and a 15% increase in the industrial trades throughout the state, according to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development. Before employees can attain journey worker status to fill in-demand jobs that are available now, apprentices must complete up to five years of specialized training and classroom instruction.
