Why did you choose to study this field?

I chose to attend FVTC for Construction Management because, through high school, I really found a passion for construction. The construction industry is incredibly unique due to the satisfaction and sense of accomplishment you feel watching a building rise up from the ground and become a place where customers and the community can grow. Construction is my passion, and it’s something I will never get tired of, so when I came across Construction Management, I knew that it was the right program for me.

Tell us how you came to choose FVTC for your education.

Choosing Fox Valley Tech was an easy choice for me. The high school I graduated from had a great relationship with FVTC, which allowed me to take dual credit courses. I earned 12 college credits with FVTC, all while taking classes in high school. This allowed me to save both time and money to complete my Construction Management degree.

What's been the most rewarding part of your educational journey at FVTC?

The most rewarding part of my journey is that I am able to walk out of FVTC with a full-time job offer. The instructors know exactly what skills employers are demanding, so they select courses that have a direct correlation with the real workforce. FVTC has really set me up with the skills to succeed.

What was the most difficult part?

The most difficult part of my educational journey was learning that it's okay to not know everything. As part of the requirements for my degree, I had to take classes like accounting and physics, which are both topics I had never learned about before. At first, it was hard for me to understand that everyone else was probably in the same boat, but I learned that it's okay for things not to make sense at first.

What will you do on graduation day or in the future to celebrate graduation?

I will be celebrating graduation day by going out for a meal with my family and friends after the ceremony. I'm also able to celebrate completing my degree by walking across the stage, in front of everyone who has supported me to get to where I am today.

Tell us about your plans after graduation.

After graduation, I will be employed at Boldt as a Field Engineer. I have worked as a field engineer intern over the past year, and I'm ecstatic to have the opportunity to continue growing both professionally and personally with Boldt. As a field engineer, I will work directly with project managers and superintendents to help manage construction processes, which I love doing.

One last parting thought or words of wisdom to share with others.

Never stop creating goals for yourself and having the drive to grow. Always look for opportunities that will support you in reaching whatever goals you have in mind for yourself. Forward is the only way to go!
