General Capital of Fox Point, Wisconsin, along with DeLeers Construction of De Pere and Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Tech Village student apartments on August 15. Tech Village is located at 15 Tri-Park Way in Appleton, across Bluemound Drive from FVTC’s main campus building.

“Thanks to a great partnership with General Capital and DeLeers Construction, students at Fox Valley Technical College now have another out-of-classroom learning experience to complement their technical education,” says Shannon Gerke-Corrigan, manager of Student Life at FVTC. “Tech Village provides opportunities for students to build meaningful relationships with peers from all over the world while immersing in social and civic activities as part of our expanded campus.”

Tech Village is a brand new community designed to meet the needs of today’s tech college students. Key building features include high speed data delivered via fiber throughout the building and gathering spaces to foster social interaction, group study, and relaxation. The apartments are fully furnished with internet, Wi-Fi, cable TV, and all utilities, in addition to flooring and new furniture made from recycled materials.

Tech Village is conveniently located less than two blocks from the main campus, and Valley Transit Route #12 (free to Fox Valley Tech students) has a bus stop directly in front of the apartment complex, providing students easy access to employers, shopping, sporting, and recreational events throughout the Fox Cities.

The building is professionally managed and staffed by a full-time community manager and four resident assistants. Through an affiliation agreement with FVTC, Tech Village will offer a variety of student life programs designed to give students a broad exposure to cultural enrichment and instructional activities.

An exciting dimension of living at Tech Village is the opportunity to develop connections and friendships with people from around the globe. The tenant mix will be comprised of students from the Fox Valley, throughout the state of Wisconsin, out of state, and numerous countries around the world.

Common area amenities include lounges and private study rooms, a community room with computer bar and fireplace, a fitness center, and outdoor recreation areas with a walking path.

DeLeers Construction commenced construction of the 275-bed project in September of 2015 and completed it at the end of July. Apartments are filling rapidly, but applications are still being accepted for the fall semester. Students may apply for a lease online or they can call 920-209-0339 for additional information.
