Since July, 2013 I have been the Vice President of Community Development for United Way Fox Cities. As such, I develop, implement and oversee strategies to achieve the community impact work of United Way Fox Cities through planning, staff and volunteer development and establishment of partnerships. I am responsible for the development of community initiatives and distribution of resources. I am also responsible for outcomes which hold United Way accountable for achievement of impact strategies and effective utilization of community resources.
Prior to this I had been the Executive Director of the Thompson Community Center (TCC) in Appleton for 2 years. I was responsible for planning, directing, organizing and coordinating all Center activities. TCC is committed to enhancing the quality of life of older adults and their families through a network of activities and services that focus on improving emotional, intellectual, physical, social and spiritual wellness. Prior to TCC, I worked as the Executive Director of the Outagamie Chapter of the American Red Cross for nearly 9 years. As the Director, I worked with the chapter’s Board of Directors and Staff to ensure that Red Cross services were delivered within the chapter’s jurisdiction.
Over the past 12 years I have worked for organizations in a capacity that relied greatly upon volunteer service. Through this involvement and heightened awareness of volunteerism with other non-profit organizations, I have gained enormous appreciation and respect for the role volunteerism plays in our community. Working with a board of directors for many years, I have come to realize the importance volunteers play in the governance and guidance provided to organizations. Involvement on the District Board is an opportunity for me to give back to the community in the same way others have done to support myself and the organizations I have lead.
