Testing Centers

The Testing Center is available for current FVTC students to complete examinations arranged through your instructors. A photo ID is required to take a test in the Testing Center. Student ID cards are available in the Student Life Center at the Appleton Campus, Student Services at the Oshkosh Riverside campus and certain regional centers.

Your personal belongings must be left outside the Testing Center. For convenience, lockers are available. A quarter is required to release the locker key; the quarter will be refunded to the user when the key is replaced.

You are responsible for allowing sufficient time for completing tests prior to testing center closing.

Proctoring Services

About Proctoring

The Appleton Testing Center offers proctoring services for students enrolled at other colleges. Please read the information below and refer your instructor to this information.

For proctoring at the Oshkosh Riverside campus and regional centers, please contact the individual location.

Student Information

In order to have your test proctored, you should:

  1. Initiate the request for proctoring through your instructor or representative of the college requiring the test. Make sure to allow enough time to take the test before the set deadline.

  2. Register for FVTC proctoring services (see below) and bring along the receipt on the day of the test.

  3. Contact the Testing Center to verify receipt of the test and testing center hours.

  4. Come prepared on the day of your test with the necessary testing items, including the test proctoring services receipt and current photo ID. If necessary, you'll need to provide postage for mailing the completed test back. You will want to make sure there is sufficient time for mailing of the test before the set deadline.

  5. Review the Testing Center guidelines (PDF).

FVTC's Testing Center will:

  1. Receive tests and sign the appropriate paperwork. It is the student's responsibility to contact the Testing Center to verify receipt of the exam.

  2. Make the student aware of any specific test guidelines (e.g., no notes, no open books, etc.) and administer the test.

  3. Return completed tests by email and/or in postage-paid envelope as provided.

  4. Destroy any tests not completed by the stated deadline, unless requested to handle otherwise.

FVTC's testing center cannot:

  • Proctor to groups of students.

  • Mail back the test unless provided with a postage-paid envelope.

  • Instructor Information

    Instructors should:

    1. Send tests and supporting materials at least three business days prior to the test date.

    1. Provide thorough directions for proctoring the test. Specific information must include but is not limited to: date(s) and time allotted for testing; whether or not a page of notes and/or calculator are allowed for testing. If a page of notes is allowed, it must be turned in upon completion of the test. Also provide contact information.

    2. Provide specific rules for the proctor, including what to do if cheating is suspected (i.e. confiscate the test) and what to do with tests that are not taken.

    3. Provide a postage-paid envelope for mailing back the completed tests and related material. Provide valid email address if results are to be returned by email.

    Fee Information

Proctoring is provided at no charge to students taking any Wisconsin technical college course-related test.
