Parent Event: Selecting a College

Bookmark and Share
UPDATE (post open house): About 60 community members attended the parent panel discussion.  Points discussed included graduates landing jobs, tuition/debt load, student life activities, transfer of credits, importance of the latest training technology, hands-on learning vs. theory-based learning, the skills gap, and more.

It’s never too early to start considering what’s important when selecting a college or university. In today’s challenging economic climate with record unemployment and a skills gap plaguing employers, the time is now to examine what defines post-secondary success.

Fox Valley Technical College is hosting a free event designed to bring burning questions about higher education out in the open during a Parent Panel on Tuesday, October 2, from 5:30 – 6:30 in room A160 inside entrance 15 at the Appleton campus.

The event is part of FVTC’s annual community Open House, which is set from 3:00 – 7:00 inside entrance 11 on the same day.

The Parent Panel will consist of parents who will share their experiences in going through the process of selecting a college or university, and facilitators will provide time for questions and answers.

The FVTC Open House is an annual event that showcases the college’s wide range of programs, technology, faculty, current students who share their experiences, and an admission fee waiver of $30 for high school seniors and older who apply to FVTC during the event.

No registration is required for either event. For more information, call (920) 735-5738 or see below.
