Print Program Overview and Courses
Embedded Technical Diploma: Approx. 36 weeks, 31 credits
Financial Aid Eligible
This one-year technical diploma is designed to prepare graduates to work in the field of computer automated mechanical drafting. Upon completion of this technical diploma, graduates will work closely with a mechanical designer and/or engineer doing work as a mechanical drafter by making mechanical drawings of products and machine components. With experience and/or further education – by completing FVTC’s Mechanical Design Technology Associate in Applied Science degree, graduates may progress to more technical design duties. Graduates would investigate other areas of the design process such as strength requirements, material choice, product improvement, and cost savings. Students will use their creativity to solve problems and create new products.
The technical diploma is designed to provide the broad technical competence needed to be an entry-level employee in an engineering department. Students will develop skill and ability in preparing and interpreting drawings to the specifications of the designer and/or engineering team.
