The Wisconsin Technical College Network (WTCN) is a fiber-optic based instructional television (ITV) network that links 15 technical colleges in the Wisconsin Technical College System into one interactive television network. This network allows each technical college to share courses and programming with other districts, universities and high schools, providing an additional learning tool for students. Students benefit by not having to drive many miles for courses otherwise not available in their areas. WTCN is part of the statewide BadgerNet infrastructure linking over 370 schools throughout the state of Wisconsin.
• Mission Statement
The purpose of the WTCN is to support the Wisconsin Technical Colleges'
collaborative efforts to expand educational opportunities and enhance learning
environments through the effective use of technology.
• Vision Statement
WTCN links learners to worldwide educational opportunities.

About Us
WTCN was created to provide
a delivery medium for the Wisconsin Technical College System allowing for
sharing courses and programs throughout the state and beyond. In February
1998
, the organizational meeting for the WTCS Distance
Education Network was held in Waunakee, WI. The network was officially named
WTCN
—the Wisconsin Technical College Network. In August 1998, the first semester of classes were offered on the network. After developing the initial course program schedule, it became apparent that an additional channel was needed to provide time for staff meetings between the Colleges. As a result, the WTCN Meeting Channel was created and started operation in September 1999.
WTCN makes a positive impact on students. Since its inception, the network and its member Colleges have served nearly 20,000 students and offered over 1000 courses. It also provided the leadership to implement an upgrade to the Meeting Channel capability through a partnership with the UW-Extension ICS group to simultaneously link the Colleges. The network experiences continuous growth in annual enrollments and provides leadership throughout the Wisconsin Technical College System in implementation, training, and sharing best practices for using technology to link learners.
