Advanced Vehicle Systems Estimating 

This three-day training links learning with hands-on repair for an interactive participant experience that focuses on theft, contamination, flood and collision-related damage. Wear-related issues or damage from an accident is easily determined if the estimator understands the basics of vehicle repair. This training gives appraisers and estimators the knowledge to accurately determine the cause of damage.

Prerequisite : “Advanced Structural Repair; Problem Alignment Diagnosing; and Nonstructural Repair Decisions—Intermediate” or the equivalent is recommended.

  • Engine theory and diagnostics for comp claims
  • Transmissions and related comp claims
  • Hybrid vehicle design, Electrical/Electronic overview

Insurance appraisers and shop estimators with some field experience will find this information necessary to accurately identify vehicle damage resulting from collision or other mishap.

Ken Kempfer—Automotive technology instructor at FVTC, is an I-CAR and ASE certified master automotive technician. He has a Bachelor and Master Degree through the University of Wisconsin.  He also is an ASE certified undercar chassis and advanced level specialist, and has a Wisconsin and federal air conditioning certification.  In addition to his 25 years of experience in the automotive industry, Ken specializes in electronics, air conditioning, and restraints training for both mechanical and collision industry.

Mel SchampersMel is an FVTC collision damage assessment trainer with 40 years of industry background. His extensive training and experience includes all facets of auto collision assessment and repair. He is certified through ASE as a master certified technician in auto collision, I-CAR Platinum individual and I-CAR Instructor, Weld test administrator and certified State of Wisconsin TCS Teacher, published author ABRN and NACE presenter.
