The new Jones Dairy Farm Culinary Theatre officially moved from concept closer to reality on Wednesday as Fox Valley Technical College held its groundbreaking ceremony for the state’s first-ever multi-media demonstration cooking theatre.
The 6,800 square-foot theatre will feature 120 seats in a panoramic view setting that resembles how meals are prepared on the Food Network. The training facility is expected to be completed by December.
The new project is the result of an outpouring of support from the food service industry, recognizing FVTC’s impact as the state’s training leader of culinary arts, food service, and hospitality professionals. The college received more than a half of million dollars in monetary and in-kind support toward this enhanced learning tool and community resource.
During the past five years, FVTC’s Culinary Arts program has averaged a 96% job placement rate for its graduates within six months of graduation. The program is certified by the American Culinary Federation, and its faculty members are recognized nationally through earning top honors in cooking competitions and other noteworthy initiatives. In addition, during the past three years Culinary students have earned gold-medal finishes at the annual Wisconsin Restaurant Association’s College Culinary Arts Competitions in Milwaukee.
NOTE: This project is not part of the college's recent referendum.
