Best practices in public safety will soon reach new standards thanks to community support for Fox Valley Technical College’s Public Safety Training Center (PSTC). College officials joined several industry partners and community supporters on October 24 to officially break ground on the 93,000-plus square-foot, $32.5 million project, which is scheduled to open in spring of 2015 at the Outagamie County Regional Airport (ATW).

The facility is the centerpiece project of FVTC’s $66.5 million public referendum from last April, which passed by a nearly 2-1 margin. The new facility will bring one-of-a-kind integrated training in the areas of law enforcement, firefighting, and emergency response to one central location.

FVTC attracts thousands of public safety practitioners annually to Appleton for specialized training, and the PSTC will only add to the economic impact of the region that already exists from these types of offerings.
