The curriculum will provide a foundation for understanding the nuances in the Public Records Law regarding disclosure of different types of records, the authority to charge fees, the obligation to effectively respond to requests for records, drafting effective communications to record requestors designed to protect the interests of the custodian and the governmental authority, applying the balancing test analysis and other details of the Public Records Law. Additional curriculum will also include example responses and working documents for a more hands on approach to: DPPA (covering exceptions, redactions, applying law, and responses to requestor); Juvenile Records (covering exceptions, redactions, applying law, and responses to requestor); Child Abuse scenario (covering exceptions, redactions, applying law, and responses to requestor); Sexual Assault scenario (covering exceptions, redactions, applying law and responses to requestor)
