Explore the relationship between justification and desirability pertaining to use of force and critical decision making. Split second decisions forces officers to default to the most aggressive option resulting in an undesirable outcome - though justified. This course will discuss available options to achieve an officer’s goals and increase a more desirable outcome. Foot pursuits, use of force applications including deadly force, mental preparation, department training, and responsibilities of an instructor will all be discussed with the goal being to open the mind of the officer to all available options.
