Public Safety Day Draws Crowds

Public Safety Day Draws Crowds

Aug 15, 2016

On Saturday, August 13, we hosted the first ever Public Safety Day at the FVTC Public Safety Training Center.

The 75-acre facility is the nation’s premier public safety training center that’s used to train police officers, firefighters, EMTs, the FBI, the Department of Justice and more.

An estimated 2,000-2,500 people attended the event. Visitors had a chance to tour River City, the realistic training village which includes a bank, a bar, homes and a motel. They also got to see a variety of training demonstrations including: water rescue, vehicle fire response, bomb robot, high-rise rescue, K-9 police dogs, SWAT team, and Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF).

Kids got to try on real police and fire gear, experience an obstacle course, and meet area police officers and firefighters.

The event also gave visitors a chance to meet the men and women behind the uniform representing police, fire, and emergency medical services.
