Alumni of the Year Named

Michael Melotte

Michael Melotte with his wife, Karen, and parents, Nancy and JerryMichael Melotte, director of pilot training for Air Wisconsin Airlines, has been named recipient of the Fox Valley Technical College 2019 Outstanding Alumni Award. A 2000 graduate of the Aeronautics-Pilot Training program, Melotte earned the award for demonstrating the value of technical education through career advancement, community service, continued personal and educational growth, and support of the Wisconsin Technical College System. Since graduating, He has served in many roles in the aviation industry, including flight training instructor at FVTC, aviation instructor and airline pilot at Air Wisconsin, FAA designated chief pilot, and most recently, director of aviation for Air Wisconsin.

Melotte is a first generation college student and the first in his family to graduate from college. He is a champion of education by way of  currently serving on advisory committees for both FVTC and Gateway Technical College. Additionally, Melotte has been a key leader in the establishment of the Airman Trainee partnership with the College. This program creates an early entry pathway to employment for FVTC students, allowing them to customize their training experience in preparation for rewarding careers at Air Wisconsin.

Melotte received the award during a special ceremony as part of the college’s April Board of Trustees meeting at the Appleton campus.
