UW-Stevens Point, Fox Valley Technical College agreement to aid interior design industry

Students earning an Associate degree in Interior Design or Kitchen & Bath Design at Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC) in Appleton will now find it easier to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Architecture at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UW-SP). The program-to-program agreement provides smooth credit transfers from FVTC to UW-SP.

“This is an important relationship for us and an ideal pipeline for students,” said Aaron Kadoch, head of the UW-Stevens Point Division of Interior Architecture (IA). The partnership resulted from a process initiated by UW-SP Associate Professor Katja Marquart five years ago.

“We are thrilled about the partnership with the UW-Stevens Point interior architecture program,” said Kris Hackl, chair of the FVTC Interior Design department. “Fox Valley Tech students wishing to obtain a bachelor’s degree now have an affordable option that is relatively close to home. The IA program at UW-Stevens Point has always had a great reputation. It’s a win-win arrangement for both schools, students, and the industry.”

Kimberly Kamke, an FVTC interior design student, is looking forward to attending UW-Stevens Point after earning two associate degrees. “The ability to have degrees in both kitchen and bath design and interior design prior to attending a traditional four-year college allows me to gain industry work experience while still furthering my education,” she noted.

Prior to enrollment to UW-Stevens Point, students enrolled at FVTC are encouraged to consult with the university’s academic advisers to create an academic transfer plan. To learn more, contact Kadoch at aaron.kadoch@uwsp.edu.

UW-Stevens Point’s program is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation and the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. The FVTC Kitchen and Bath program is accredited by the National Kitchen and Bath Association.
