In 2021, “The Great Resignation” was coined as a way to describe the surge of people quitting their jobs due to the pandemic. It’s impacted almost every sector of the workforce, including agriculture where the Job Center of Wisconsin lists almost 1,100 jobs available for agriculture occupations.

Fox Valley Technical College’s Agriculture program and the college’s efforts to grow the workforce in this job sector were recently highlighted in a story by Spectrum News 1.

Student Alex Wepner will earn a technical diploma in Farm Operation when he finishes his course work in March. He credits the college’s facilities and access to tech gear for teaching him new things that he can put into practice on the family farm in Manawa.

“The family is pretty happy,” says Alex. “I think they’re proud of me for going to school and learning new things and actually bringing something back.”
