Can you feel it? The excitement is building.
In just days, Fox Valley Technical College will celebrate winter commencement for the Class of 2020.
Lori Glassco feels the energy. She’s ready to graduate with an associate degree in Business Analyst and a technical diploma in Digital Marketing. These achievements come for Lori after a 25-year gap in the classroom.
“I wasn’t sure what to expect when I returned to school,” Lori said. “I wondered if I’d be in a room full of students my son’s age. I worried if students would embrace me or if they’d ask what ‘mom’ was doing in the classroom.”
Lori is not only a mother, but also a wife who gained years of practical work experience while following her husband and his Army career. The family moved eight times in 15 years before returning to her home state and settling in the Fox Cities. Then, Lori had a decision to make: what now?
“I had looked at FVTC once before, but when I took a second look I found the business analyst program had been added,” Lori said. “I read the competencies and it was like the curriculum was written explicitly for me and what I wanted to do with my small business. So, I jumped in with both feet.”
Two years later, Lori is one of seven students who will make up the first class of graduates in the Business Analyst program at FVTC.
“So many years later, I’m doing exactly what I always dreamed of doing,” Lori said. “I’m helping other businesses be the best they can be. I get to turn around and share my knowledge. Now I can be the mentor.”
Join us as we celebrate the Class of 2020 on Friday, December 18, at 5:00 p.m. Details can be found at the FVTC commencement page.
