It was Green Bay’s oldest criminal cold case. But after 34 years, new DNA technology used for the first time in Green Bay, led to an arrest.
Joe LeFevre, chair of the Forensic Science program at Fox Valley Technical College, explains how preserving DNA evidence is a crucial step in any criminal investigation.
“If we’re storing it properly at the police department and we’re taking our safeguards to make sure it doesn’t get contaminated, it’s going to be viable for as long as anyone that’s involved with the case is going to be alive,” Joe explained.
