On Thursday, April 11, two Fox Valley Technical College students will head to Green Bay to pitch their business models and compete against other area college students. The payoff? $10,000 to help them bring their idea to life.

The Pitch is a startup business pitch competition among college students in northeast Wisconsin and takes place at TitletownTech, an innovation firm adjacent to Lambeau Field. Students will present to a panel of judges and to an audience of area students, community members, business leaders, entrepreneurs and investors.

The students representing FVTC are Heather Schroeder and Hannah Jungwirth, first and second place winners, respectively, of the Fox Trap Pitch Event held at the Appleton campus on March 8. Schroeder won $1,000 in that event for Level Up Mentoring, an extension of her tutoring service Fire Tutoring. The two-time Fox Trap Pitch winner is pursuing an associate degree in Individualized Technical Studies with an emphasis on Educational Consulting. Jungwirth secured a $500 award for her business idea, Kid Kingdom Inn, a family-friendly hotel franchise designed specifically for families with younger children. Jungwirth is pursuing an associate degree in Business Management with an emphasis in entrepreneurship.

In addition to Fox Valley Tech, participating schools include Lawrence University, Moraine Park Technical College, St. Norbert College, UW-Oshkosh and UW-Green Bay. This event, sponsored by Nicolet National Bank, is free and open to the public. This is the first time FVTC has participated in the regional event.
