Growing Oshkosh Program Prepares Learners

Oshkosh Area School District, FVTC partner to educate at-risk teens

Nearly 30 Oshkosh students received diplomas recently from an alternative education program designed to prepare them for career success, the Oshkosh Northwestern reported.

Fox Valley Technical College collaborates with the Oshkosh Area School District to offer the Riverside Alternative Education Program, which targets students who are at risk of failing to graduate.

When students graduate, they receive a high school diploma as well as certificates in programs like certified nursing assistant, welding and automation.

With more than 160 graduates since its in inception in 2010, the program provides a chance for success for students who may struggle in a traditional classroom setting.
