The FVTC Foundation established the Mitch Lundgaard Memorial Scholarship in memory of the fallen Appleton firefighter. Lundgaard was fatally shot near the Valley Transit Center in downtown Appleton last May. He left behind a wife and three young children.

The endowed scholarship, set up in his name name by the family, supports students enrolled in the college’s Fire Protection Technician program. Generosity from the community toward the family and the scholarship has been increasingly growing, according to Lundgaard’s surviving wife, Lindsey.
