Why did you choose the Aeronautics-Pilot Training career program?

Ever since I was a young kid I have been fascinated by airplanes and it has been a dream of mine to become a pilot. After a few years of biomedical studies at a traditional four-year college, I learned that healthcare wasn't for me so I chose to drop everything and follow my childhood dream.

What are you learning about your career field that you find interesting or rewarding?

I have found it very interesting to learn just how much more there is to becoming a pilot than simply knowing how to fly an airplane. For example, we need to be able to manage systems, passengers, the environment around us, etc. at all times. I find it rewarding that no two days or flights are ever the same and that there are always new learning opportunities and takeaways. Plus, with the tight-knit aviation community, there is always someone to share experiences and connect with.

Why did you choose Fox Valley Technical College?

I chose Fox Valley Technical College as soon as I was ready to break away from the traditional four-year university degree. I wanted to dive directly into the career-focused and hands-on training that FVTC had to offer. As an added benefit, it was close to home in Oshkosh, WI.

How has Fox Valley Technical College helped you change your life?

Fox Valley Technical College has allowed me to follow my dream of becoming a pilot. As a result of my training, I have a solid foundation to continue building upon this passion.

What type of job do you expect to find after graduation?

After graduation, I plan on becoming a flight instructor to accumulate my flight hours and share my passion/experiences with students of my own. Beyond flight instructing, I hope to find a position in corporate aviation.

In one sentence, what's your best advice for someone who's not sure they're ready for college?

Do everything you can to discover the job/career that’s meant for you, don’t be afraid of change, and the rest will fall into place.
