Students Pitch Business Ideas

| By: Britten, Casey

Seven business students vied for small business supremacy during the annual Fox Trap Pitch event. Put on by the Business division and sponsored financially by American National Bank and the Fox Valley Technical College Foundation, the competition allows for students to pitch business ideas before a panel of judges for cash prizes.

More importantly, the event serves as a relevant learning experience for students. Under a designated time restriction, they are required to apply critical skills in sales, communications, professionalism, critical thinking, costs analysis, and more while making a case to startup a new business venture or enhance an existing one. After presenting their pitches, each student then answered questions from the judges.

The top-three winning students in order of first-to-third were Heather Schroeder, Level Up Mentoring, $1,000; Hannah Jungwirth, Kid Kingdom Inn, $500; and Nathan Vallejo Montas, BIZ-STAR LLC, $200. Other competing students included Jason Lor, Gina Xiong, Taylor Blank and Ramzi Nasri.
