A student is eligible for graduation from Fox Valley Technical College’s associate degree and technical diploma programs when they have fulfilled the following requirements:


Completion of course requirements of the program curriculum. This information is available in your Academic Progress Report (APR) through your MyFVTC Account. Please see your academic advisor if you have any questions.

Completion of at least one-fourth (25%) of the total program credits required in the degree or diploma through coursework undertaken at FVTC. The 25% of total program credits must be comprised of a minimum of 25% of the occupational course credits. 

A program cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better (“C” average); additionally, some programs have minimum grade requirements for occupational coursework as specified and published by the program. For further information please contact your academic advisor.

Graduation Requirements & Additional Information

Commencement Ceremony

FVTC holds two traditional commencement ceremonies each year. These special events provide an opportunity for staff, faculty, family and friends to celebrate your accomplishment. Ceremonies are held in May and December each year.

  • Attending the commencement ceremony is not mandatory to receive your diploma.
  • Attending the ceremony is not a verification of degree completion.
  • Certificate students, apprentices, Nursing Assistants, 720 Academy students and Truck Driving are not included in the Commencement ceremony

Transcripts and Credentials

Transcripts can be ordered through parchment.com. Please select “Hold for Degree” or your transcripts will be sent immediately. Transcripts that are held will be automatically e/mailed as soon as degrees are posted.

Credentials will be issued to students approximately two weeks after the end of the term via parchment.com. Digital copies are issued to all students as soon as degrees have been awarded. Hard copies are mailed to all students and can be expected 4-6 weeks after the end of the term – subject to USPS shipping timelines. There is no cost to students for their degree – however additional copies must be purchased through parchment.com.

Embedded Degrees

All requests for transfer credit or prior learning must be submitted prior to the start of your final term to ensure inclusion in Commencement activities.

Embedded degrees are added and awarded to a student’s record when complete. These are degrees that are earned on the path toward a declared program to gain additional credentials. Students can expect both a digital copy and a hard copy of these to be issued.

Apprentices

Apprentices are not issued a degree through FVTC and students should not expect to receive diplomas via Parchment.
