Students will learn from real crime scene investigators and get practical hands-on applications along with experience with criminal investigations. Students will learn and apply as a team and build individual knowledge and confidence in how to manage a crime scene, and how to search, identify, document, collect and preserve evidence at crime scenes through lectures and practical hands-on applications. This training experience and adventure include, but is not limited to the following: Impression evidence (fingerprints, footwear, tool marks)-practical hands-on applications; Use of an Alternate Light Source-practical hands-on applications; Trace evidence (hairs, fibers, paint, building materials)- practical hands-on applications DNA and biologicals- practical hands-on applications; Crime scene scenario’s- practical hands-on applications and Courtroom testimony- practical hands-on applications.

This youth camp provides high-level exploration in technical education with a focus on campus engagement, and representation, and includes culturally relevant practices. Camp LYT2E serves Black/African American 6th-10th graders enrolled in any of the 28 school districts served by Fox Valley Technical College.

Camp H.E.R.O. is designed specifically for Hmong students entering grades 6-10. Participants learn about careers through hands-on, interactive sessions such as digital fabrication, paralegal careers, public safety, aircraft piloting, culinary arts, advanced manufacturing, health care, and many others. Students develop self-esteem and leadership skills through daily journaling, presentations, peer-to-peer contact, and a final graduation ceremony.

So, you think you may want to be a police officer someday? Maybe you are curious as to what being a police officer is like? Even if you answer “No” to both of those questions, but you are looking for something that is fun and interesting…Cop Camp is for you! In Cop Camp you will have the chance to be a part of a SWAT Team and ride-a-long on our Emergency Vehicle Operations course and learn how to process evidence and take fingerprints. You will also have an opportunity to tour a local police department, meet real police officers and have a whole lot of fun.
Participants should wear tennis shoes to actively participate in the camp.

Put the pedal to the floor and let the rubber burn! Welcoming students ages 12 to 15 to join us in a multifaceted experience called "Wheels on Fire". Assemble, personalize and take home your very own RC car! Additionally, learner will assemble a 90 foot drag racing track, work with industrial equipment including sensors and PanelViews to measure, calculate and display race stats. Finally, individuals will compete against each other by racing their personalized RC cars, as well as, an alternative car designed using an angle-grinder. Lunch, snacks, and drinks will be provided.

This camp will cover what it takes to make something from beginning to end. It will touch on the design process, the machining process, and the assembly process. Participants will leave with an item they have created from start to finish.

The Basic Fire Camp will introduce different facets of the fire service with hands on participation of firefighting skills. The participant will also tour multiple fire departments in the Fox Valley and talk with current fire fighters.

L.E.T.T.I.E. is designed for Hispanic girls entering grades 6-10. The camp helps participants see career options in various Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) programs.
L.E.T.T.I.E.'s five-day camp offers academic improvement, career exploration, and personal enrichment in order to close the achievement gap between Hispanic girls and their peers. L.E.T.T.I.E. camp gives these girls and their parents the necessary information, knowledge, and confidence to envision college after high school. Participants' families are invited to participate in the full program, which includes tours of the college, sessions on financial aid, and a graduation ceremony that recognizes the students' efforts.

Learn about careers in heavy-duty diesel truck repair. Students will gain hands-on, minds-on experience working in a heavy truck repair shop. Camp includes a day spent working in a local heavy truck repair facility, meet real Technicians, and have a lot of fun!

GirlTech offers middle school girls the opportunity to explore occupations in technology so each participant may expand her vision of future education and career paths. GirlTech places particular emphasis on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) careers along with occupations where females are typically a minority (non-traditional occupations). At the culmination of the week-long camp, the girls leave GirlTech with increased enthusiasm for learning and heightened confidence in their abilities.
Participate in hands-on, minds-on STEM activities including welding, soldering, engineering, and computer programming and much more. Registration fee includes a t-shirt, daily snacks, and take-home projects.

Learn about life in the world of automotive repair, tour our state-of-the-art facility and then onto the fun stuff…high tech cars and trucks and equipment to play with.

The advanced Fire Camp is a continuation of the basic fire camp giving the participant more advanced experience in the fire service. The participant will participate in firefighting training evolutions.

Learn about small engine repair and maintenance while doing hands activities with your equipment you bring in. New this year students will have an opportunity to operate a robotic mower and learn about new electronic technology entering the outdoor power equipment and powersports industries.

Fox Valley Technical College has partnered with Junior Achievement to provide additional learning opportunities to students in our community. JA’s curriculum is proven to increase students’ knowledge of topics related to personal finance, work and career-readiness, and entrepreneurship. Their age-appropriate programs are designed for students in grades K through 12.
