BizSquad Students Lend Skill to Local Firms

| By: Britten, Casey

The Business division at Fox Valley Technical College hosted its 6th BizSquad Report as part of an end-of-semester celebration on the Appleton campus. The event highlighted four area businesses that received assistance from FVTC’s business students.

BizSquad is an experiential learning immersion that utilizes a pool of students each semester from FVTC’s Information Technology, Marketing, Business Management, Accounting, Paralegal, and Administrative Professional programs to provide project assistance to local companies. Since its inception in 2014, BizSquad has helped more than 20 area organizations while serving as a real world learning activity for students at FVTC.

This year’s BizSquad team consisted of Stephanie Baskett, Business Management, Ben Hacker, Accounting and Business Management, Icha Khairunnisa, Human Resources, Lee Ann Lilly, Web Design & Development, Marie Praxedes, Computer Support Specialist, Morgan Ridley, Marketing and Business Management, Jalene Van Epps, Administrative Professional, and Diane Yameogo, Paralegal.

Most of the partnering organizations this year, Coyle Care Management, Women in Technology, Veterans’ Mentor Group, and the restaurant Los Tres Manantiales, tapped the students’ expertise in areas like web development, social media planning and optimization, client management, and template design for reports and promotional materials. Representatives from each of the organizations were on hand at the event to share their feedback on the projects and to offer gratitude to the students.
