Students in Fox Valley Technical College’s Culinary Arts program advanced to the American Culinary Federation (ACF) regional competitions by winning a cook-off at the state ACF event last weekend in the Jones Dairy Farm Culinary Theatre on the college’s Appleton campus.

The FVTC student team of Grace Claussen, Regina Hueckman, Kim Jahns, Kirk Reilly, and Morgan Vanden Langenberg earned the right to advance their skills on February 17 and 18 in Madison against teams from nine other states. Their winning chicken-based entrée consisted of a seafood appetizer, a specialty salad with fruits and meats, and a dessert.

The winner of the regional competition will then head to New Orleans in July for the ACF national event. Established in 1929, the ACF is the premier professional chefs’ organization in North America with more than 17,500 members in over 150 chapters nationwide.
