Innovators at Work: How Fox Valley Tech is adapting to historic times with inventive solutions for students and efforts that uplift our community.

In the Middle of Urgency

A student in our Construction Management Technology (CMT) program lived through what urgency looks like during these challenging times. Dylan Casey, 20, performed a vital role as an intern for The Boldt Company while the company built temporary care centers to support emergency room overflow due to COVID-19 for Aurora Health Care in Green Bay, Marinette, Oshkosh and Two Rivers.

The projects were built at Aurora hospitals in Green Bay, Marinette, Oshkosh and Two Rivers. They included drive-thru testing facilities and overflow tents to treat patients, and the entire undertaking was completed in less than two weeks.

Casey, in his second semester in CMT, served as a key liaison between construction workers and vendors in acquiring supplies. The experience demonstrated the Portage, Wisconsin native’s ability to think critically and independently while helping bridge the needs of health care staff and builders with little time to prepare.

That’s not all. Intuitively, Casey took the historic occasion to present a learning opportunity for his classmates. He made a video that highlights various aspects of the construction process. His instructor, Rich Cass, used the footage during online classes as an invaluable and timely learning tool.
