Our thoughts continue to be with everyone impacted by the severe weather and tornado activity that affected our communities on Monday, July 27. We wanted to provide you with a few important updates and resources as we navigate this difficult time. 

While as a campus we have been fortunate, we understand you and/or your loved ones may be facing unexpected challenges. We want to ensure you know where to turn for support, and how to offer support if you are so able.

General Updates:

  • Power has been restored in all FVTC locations, and our buildings did not sustain any major structural damage. Grounds cleanup is underway, and the facilities team is responding to water leaks and other minor damage.
  • Our buildings have power, water, and air conditioning. During our normal building hours, members of the campus community (employees, students, and visitors) are welcome to use our spaces to charge phones, cool off, or rest. 

Community Resources Available to Everyone

211 Wisconsin: Call 211 to report damage, connect with disaster recovery resources, and access available community support (shelter, food, etc.)

Fox Cities Chamber Tornado Recovery Resources: The Fox Cities Chamber has compiled local, regional, and state resources to help individuals, families, employees, and businesses recover from the recent storms. Information is updated regularly as new assistance and recovery programs become available.

Student Resources

Students impacted by the recent tornado and severe storms can access support through 211 Wisconsin for community recovery resources, shelter, food assistance, and other services.

FVTC also offers a variety of ongoing student support resources, including information about food assistance, basic needs, counseling services, and other programs designed to help students navigate personal challenges.

Time Away from Work

Employees dealing with damage to their home may use available sick leave (or emergency leave for faculty) to address recovery needs.

Employees who choose to take time off to assist family members or friends should record that time as PTO.

Donate: United Way Fox Cities and the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region have created a Community Response Fund to support recovery efforts. Please also consider donations to
Sly’s Goods Food Pantry (here is the Amazon Wish List) or the basic needs organization of your choice. (Note that many organizations are only accepting monetary donations at this time.)
