Catherine Tierney has been a member of the Fox Valley Technical College District Board since August 2007 including terms as treasurer, vice chairperson and chairperson. She has also been a member of the Fox Valley Technical College Foundation Board since the early 1990’s.
Her career in financial services began 40 years ago with Community First Credit Union. In 1994, she was named president/CEO and during her tenure, the credit union has grown to over $2.5 billion in assets, serving more than 120,800 member-owners within a 13 county area in Northeastern Wisconsin.
Financial Literacy is one of her passions and Community First is actively engaged in championing this cause in our communities. Catherine was appointed to the Governor’s Task Force on Financial Literacy in 2000 and has worked closely with the Appleton Area School District and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction to develop a financial literacy curriculum for students. Many of these students receive hands-on work experiences at our local high school branches.
Catherine also serves on the boards of SECURA Insurance, Fox Cities Building for the Arts, Riverview Gardens, Habitat for Humanity Fox Cities and the Community Foundation of the Fox Valley Region. In addition she serves as a director of PSCU (Payment Systems for Credit Unions), NASCUS (the National Association of State Chartered Credit Unions) and the Wisconsin Credit Union Foundation.
