Admissions

PN Multiple Options

Multiple options for admissions are available for this program: High School GPA of 3.0 or higher in last 10 years OR HESI 70% or higher OR TEAS 50 or higher OR Previous Associate Degree or higher or Technical Diploma of 24 credits or more OR ACT of 18 or higher in English & Math AND 20 or higher in Reading; student must provide copies of the applicable option; testing is good for 3 years.

High School Transcript

Submit a final, official high school transcript or an official copy of GED/HSED certification scores. Current high school students must submit an official in-progress transcript and a final official transcript after graduation..

NOTE: Nursing NA Requirement

Upon completion of the above requirements, you will be admitted into one of the Nursing programs, however, you will not be eligible for core nursing courses until you show completion of a Nursing Assistant (DHFS approved) class to staff in Room E121 on the Appleton campus.

NOTE: You will be required to complete a Certified Criminal Background Check prior to enrollment into internship or clinical experience. Do not submit these records until you are asked to provide them to your instructors. Criminal activity reported will be communicated to healthcare agencies which provide student clinical and internship opportunities. Healthcare agencies have the legal right to deny a clinical or internship experience based on crimes committed. Completion of your program cannot be guaranteed if your criminal history precludes you from completing any clinical or internship experience.

Students will be required to electronically submit clinical documentation, which includes immunizations and COVID vaccination, when accepted into core courses or clinical placement.

The Nursing Skills course is offered in Oshkosh and Appleton; this is the only core LPN course offered in both locations.

Students must obtain a C grade in each required general education and core course. If a C grade is not obtained, you will be required to repeat the course.

ATI is a required fee upon entry into the Nursing program. It will be utilized in all theory classes, skills classes and clinical.

To be successful and safe in this program, students must meet the minimum requirements for English language proficiency (high intermediate at minimum, with advanced level preferred). Students who do not meet these requirements can get help by enrolling in FVTC’s [Intensive English program](https://www.fvtc.edu/global-education/learn-english).

Students registered in core nursing courses are required to bring a laptop computer to class and/or clinical.

The [Nursing Progression Policy](https://www.fvtc.edu/Portals/0/PDFs/Programs/Nursing-Progression-Policy.pdf) states:  Students who do not meet the minimum academic standard in the same science and/or core class twice, or in three different science and/or core classes, will be removed from the program for two years. The minimum academic standard requires students to receive a grade of A, B, or C.  Grades of C-, D, F, or W do not meet the minimum academic requirements.

Graduates of Fox Valley Technical College's Practical Nursing program are eligible to take the National Council Licensing Examination for Practical Nurses.
