K-12 Articulations

What are Advanced Standing and Dual Credit?

An Advanced Standing class is a high school course that matches a technical college course taught by a high school teacher at the high school. A successful student becomes eligible to receive advanced standing after enrolling in an associate degree or a technical diploma at the college.

A Dual (Transcripted) Credit class is a technical college course taught by a high school teacher that FVTC certifies for Dual Credit instruction, taught at the high school. A high school student earns credit at their high school and at the technical college.

FVTC Summer Summits – 2017

This summer join your FVTC articulation partners and other high school educators for focused collaboration time and training activities designed to prepare you for teaching Dual Credit course content. During your summer summit event, program teams will engage you in a variety of activities from curriculum updates and software or equipment training, to industry data specific to the course you will be teaching. It is critical that content rigor is maintained once a Dual Credit course begins and FVTC is dedicated to preparing you for a successful journey as you begin to teach on the FVTC team!

Some summits have a graduate credit option available through Viterbo University and will have this option noted in their listing. Students interested in graduate credits ($110/credit) will register on the first day of the summit. There is no additional cost to high school partners for the summit.
