Surroundings have an enormous influence on people’s lives. Put your creativity to work in this exciting career field as an interior designer. You will learn how to plan the arrangement of interior space and coordinate the selection and sales of furniture, draperies and other fabrics, floor coverings and interior accessories. You will also learn the skills you need to accurately bid project proposals. You’ll learn both residential and commercial design. Through elective courses you can explore options such as kitchen and bath planning, window treatments, wall finishes or flooring. Internships will help you gain the practice and confidence to create design projects for clients.

Admissions Requirements

Skills Assessment

An academic skills assessment is required for admission into this program or the following: provide completion of associate’s or higher degree OR; 165 or higher on your 2014 series GED tests OR; ACT OR SAT OR Accuplacer OR Companion OR Compass (last 3 years) to waive to the general education level; The cost of the Accuplacer assessment is $15; Catalog #: 94100100; Learn more at www.fvtc.edu/Assessment.

Credit Transfer Options

Whether you’re an incoming student, transferring to another two-year college or pursuing your bachelor’s degree, we make it easy for you to seamlessly transfer your credits. With full accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission, we offer credit transfer agreements with more than 65 two-and four-year colleges.

Many students come to Fox Valley Tech with credits they’ve already earned, either while in high school or at other colleges and universities. It’s also possible to be granted credit for career-related knowledge and skills you’ve already mastered.

Transfer Out

Is a four-year degree in your future? Save time and money by starting here. You can earn your associate degree at Fox Valley Tech, then apply your credits toward a bachelor’s degree. Or easily transfer your credits to other two-year colleges.

Program Accreditation/Certification
The National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) recognizes the Interior Design associate degree as an NKBA supported program. This degree meets all the qualifications for accreditation by the National Kitchen & Bath Association.
